Penn explains IV issue, says weight-cutting IVs are still for ‘wimps’

B.J. Penn won’t be fighting at UFC 199, and he might end up with a suspension for a USADA violation due to IV use. The fighter disclosed to USADA that he had taken an IV of more than 60ml in a six-hour period back in March, which is a violation of the rules. Penn stated that he had no idea those rules were in place.
Now, on his own website, the former two-division champ opened up about the situation. He said that after getting to Greg Jackson’s camp, they had a team of doctors that suggested an IV of glutathione for his vision and vertigo issues. But he didn’t realize the actual IV part of it was an issue:
