Volleyball giants set to rub shoulders again at Montreux Masters

Montreux, Switzerland, May 30, 2016- Some of the finest teams in the women’s game arrive in Switzerland to battle-it-out for gold at the 2016 edition of the Montreux Volley Masters. At 4:30pm (local time) on the opening day, hosts Switzerland will kick off proceedings in Pool A against Serbia, followed by China’s clash with Brazil at 6:45pm, before Turkey round off the first day action against the Belgians in the 9:15pm night-time fixture.As the opening to the 2016 edition of the Montreux Valley Masters draws ever closer, some of the heavyweights of Women’s International volleyball are preparing to fight for glory on the shores of Lac Léman once more. Six of the top 15 sides in the FIVB World Rankings will appear in Montreux, thus the oldest and most prestigious invitational tournament in the women’s game looks primed and ready to thrill volleyball fans across the world once again.Reigning FIVB Women’s World Cup champions China are amongst the favourites to secure the Montreux crown this year, but their champions’ credentials will once more be put to the test. The Chinese will feature in a strong Pool A; containing Turkey-current holders of the Montreux Volley Masters title-and a Brazil side who were crowned 2015 world champions in the U23 category.Pool B also looks set to be a mouth-watering affair, with World Cup runners-up Serbia, 2015 Asian Championship bronze medallists and Montreux Masters debutants Thailand, and 2015 European Championship silver medallists the Netherlands set to do battle in a bid to secure one of the other two semi-final places on offer.
