Saints see Andrus Peat as starter, but where?

METAIRIE, La. — Sean Payton made a strong statement regarding Andrus Peat’s progress with the New Orleans Saints last week, saying, “Certainly we see him starting.”
But where, exactly, remains undecided.
“Whether it’s at right guard or right tackle, we’ve got some time and some flexibility with regards to that,” Payton said.
Peat was the Saints’ top draft pick in 2015, with the 13th overall pick out of Stanford. But he struggled early last summer with his conditioning. And he ultimately was unable to win a permanent starting gig at his natural position of offensive tackle behind established starters Terron Armstead and Zach Strief.
The 6-foot-7, 316-pounder wound up making some spot starts as an injury replacement at both tackle and guard.
During Thursday’s organized team activities practice, Peat worked as the first-string right guard — but projected starting left guard Tim Lelito was not participating in team drills. So the pecking order remains …
