Liverpool will turn their attention away from Mario Gotze and seek to prise Sadio Mane away from Southampton this summer, per Goal’s Melissa Reddy.
The Senegalese winger has also reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur after scoring 15 goals for the Saints during the 2015-16 campaign, per WhoScored.com.
According to the report, Gotze’s refusal to commit to a deal with the Anfield club has forced manager Jurgen Klopp to consider other available options in his first pre-season on Merseyside, with the team eager to bounce back from runner-up finishes in the League Cup and UEFA Europa League last season. The German coach is predicted to transform the squad during the transfer window, with former striker John Aldridge claiming up to seven players may be recruited, per James Dutton of the Daily Mail.
Per Reddy, Mane is expected to cost in the region of £25 million, with Liverpool having previous experience of dealing with the south-coast club. Former manager Brendan Rodgers raided St Mary’s Stadium in order to sign Rickie Lambert, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana. Klopp is knowledgeable on the attributes Mane can offer following the attacker’s two-year spell at Red Bull Salzburg.
