Hill exits with groin strain, is day to day

OAKLAND — A’s left-hander Rich Hill left Sunday’s 4-2 win over the Tigers with a mild groin strain, but he doesn’t view it as a significant injury and is considered day to day.
Hill left the field accompanied by a trainer with one out in the seventh inning after striking out James McCann. He first felt the injury sometime around the fourth inning, and said it continued to build throughout the course of the game.
“It’s a real mild groin strain,” manager Bob Melvin said. “He wanted to stay in, but I didn’t want to put him in a position where it could get worse.”
