Freese makes most of return to Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas — Pittsburgh infielder David Freese isn’t happy leaving Globe Life Park Sunday, but Rangers fans probably are.
Freese, the hero of Game 6 for the St. Louis Cardinals against Texas in the 2011 World Series, has been on the receiving end of boos since the Pirates came to town on Friday. Freese understands where the fans are coming from.
“I don’t pay attention to it, but you definitely hear it,” Freese said. “It’s part of the game. These fans are definitely passionate. It’s all in good fun. Maybe I snuck in here this year.”
The boos weren’t so loud Friday in his first at-bat, but by the time he had collected three hits in the 9-1 Pittsburgh win, Freese had evoked some bad memories for the Texas faithful.
“That’s one of the great things about sports,” he said. “Good or unfortunate, people don’t forget.”
