No ligament damage and no DL for Salvy

KANSAS CITY — The Royals appear to have not only dodged a bullet, but moreso a howitzer.
All-Star catcher Salvador Perez, injured in a scary collision with third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert on Saturday, will not go on the disabled list. An MRI on Perez’s left leg revealed no ligament damage to his knee.
“It’s what we thought — a deep quad contusion,” said Royals manager Ned Yost.
Yost said Perez, the reigning World Series Most Valuable Player, will be out 7-10 days. In the meantime, the Royals recalled catcher Tony Cruz from Triple-A Omaha and optioned right-hander Peter Moylan there.
Cruz was hitting .278 with six doubles, three homers and 20 RBIs in 31 games for the Storm Chasers this season.
