Posey’s 6-RBI game a good sign for Giants

DENVER — Buster Posey smiled when he was asked whether he recalled the events of July 7, 2010: “You don’t forget those,” Posey said.
The Giants catcher created more memories for himself Saturday at Coors Field, where he hoisted a pair of three-run homers to match a career-best total of six RBIs as the Giants bested the Colorado Rockies, 10-5.
Posey’s previous six-RBI binge occurred in that 2010 game at Milwaukee when he hit a two-run homer and a grand slam. He was halfway through his rookie season, just beginning to establish himself as an effective run producer.
Not much has changed. The Giants continue to rely on Posey to generate offense, and though everybody in their lineup is capable of impressive efforts, Posey’s big days seem to resonate. That’s what happens when the performer is a three-time All-Star and former Most Valuable Player.
“He’s that type of player. He can carry us,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said.
