DL stint gives Miller chance to reset

PHOENIX — For the first time since going on the 15-day disabled list, D-backs starter Shelby Miller addressed his lingering issue with his right index finger on Saturday.
Miller has not been the No. 2 starter the D-backs envisioned when they sent a hefty package to the Braves in exchange for the right-hander during the offseason. But Miller isn’t using the finger sprain — which he suffered when banging his hand on the mound twice on April 16 — as the reason for his inefficiency.
“I wouldn’t say it was affecting me a ton, that’s kind of an excuse,” said Miller, who went on the DL on Friday, retroactive to Wednesday. “It’s just getting back to 100 percent and getting a good feel for the ball and just giving it some rest.”
