Moeen Ali took England beyond 400 on the second morning at Chester-le-Street as Sri Lanka’s fielding went from awesome to abysmal overnight. Both Moeen and Chris Woakes gave early chances and the pair went on to add 92 for the seventh wicket before some rewards came the way of Sri Lanka’s seamers.

It was a different Sri Lanka fielding side which emerged for the second day’s play after their four outstanding grabs on Friday.
