Angels set to activate Pennington, DFA Ryan

ANAHEIM — The Angels will activate infielder Cliff Pennington from the 15-day disabled list, the team announced after Friday night’s 7-2 win over the Astros at Angel Stadium.
In order to create a spot on the 25-man roster for Pennington, the team will designate infielder Brendan Ryan for assignment. The moves will become official Saturday.
Pennington had been at Class A Advanced Inland Empire on a Minor League rehab assignment. He exited a game against the Cardinals on May 12 with what was originally called a cramp in his left hamstring. He was officially placed …
