PARIS — So much for the United States getting two men into the fourth round of the French Open for the first time in 15 years.

The hard-serving American, the No. 15 seed, had 34 aces to reach the second week at Roland Garros for just the second time in his career. He will next face No. 2 seed Andy Murray, who had an easy time with Ivo Karlovic.
