American Isner wins five-set duel; Sock stopped

PARIS — So much for the United States getting two men into the fourth round of the French Open for the first time in 15 years.
John Isner did his part, winning six straight games in the fifth set to cap off a marathon 7-6, 4-6, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Teymuraz Gabashvili on Friday.
The hard-serving American, the No. 15 seed, had 34 aces to reach the second week at Roland Garros for just the second time in his career. He will next face No. 2 seed Andy Murray, who had an easy time with Ivo Karlovic.
