Halep passes 3-set test; Muguruza into 4th round

PARIS — After dropping the first set, Simona Halep got back on track to reach the fourth round of the French Open on Friday.
The 2014 runner-up, who has had her problems in Paris, broke 18-year-old Naomi Osaka of Japan at love for a 5-3 lead in the third set on Court Suzanne Lenglen and served out for the 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Other than that run to the final two years ago, Halep lost in the first round here three times and the second round twice.
The 101st-ranked Osaka, playing in only her second major tournament, reached the third round …
