It was business as usual on day five of the 2016 French Open even as surprises kept being peppered at regular intervals.
Ernests Gulbis was the first player to reach the third round from the top-half after having upset 26th seed Joao Sousa in straight sets in their second round match. Gulbis was dominant from the start and Sousa couldn’t get to do much damage to the Latvian’s game. The only time Sousa could offer some resistance was in the second set that was won by Gulbis 7-5.
