Astros’ Gomez using rehab stint to refresh

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — He was smiling with his teammates, bouncing around the field and looked refreshed. Simply put, Carlos Gomez was being Carlos Gomez again. Prior to the second game of his Minor League rehab stint at Double-A Corpus Christi on Wednesday night, Gomez said the rib cage injury that put him on the disabled list might have come at a good time.
Gomez went 0-for-3 in his first game with the Hooks on Tuesday and was in the lineup in center field Wednesday against Arkansas. He recorded an outfield assist and later had a diving catch in center, flashing his Gold Glove pedigree. Gomez is expected to play in five or six games the rest of the Corpus Christi homestand before rejoining the Astros next week.
