Bucs’ Caminero on DL, Watson on paternity list

PITTSBURGH — The Pirates made a series of roster moves Wednesday, shuffling their bullpen as they called up two relievers from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Pittsburgh placed struggling reliever Arquimedes Caminero on the 15-day disabled list with a left quadriceps strain, put setup man Tony Watson on the paternity list and recalled right-hander Rob Scahill and lefty Kyle Lobstein to fill out their bullpen.
After a breakthrough season, Caminero hasn’t looked right all year, but he reached a nadir in Tuesday night’s 12-1 win over the D-backs. The flame-throwing righty hit two of Arizona’s batters in the head — Jean Segura with a 96-mph fastball, and Nick Ahmed with a split-finger fastball.
Caminero was ejected. Afterward, Caminero told head athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk that his left quad had been bothering him.
“He got to a point after [Tuesday] night that he couldn’t compete and do the things that he needed to do as a professional pitcher,” Tomczyk said. “Therefore it was in his best interest that he takes a pause for competing, we allow this to calm …
