French Open 2016 Results: Winners, Scores, Stats from Wednesday Singles Bracket
- Updated: May 25, 2016
Second seed Andy Murray was pushed to the limit again on Wednesday, as he needed five sets to overcome a determined Mathias Bourgue in Round 2 at the French Open.
The Scot was two sets to one down at one point in the contest, as his opponent capitalised on frailties that were on show in Murray’s last match with Radek Stepanek. But the two-time major champion recomposed himself to take a 6-2, 2-6, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 triumph.
Elsewhere there were wins for 2015 champion Stanislas Wawrinka and eighth seed Milos Raonic. In the women’s draw second seed Agnieszka Radwanska coasted through her match, while Garbine Muguruza showed her quality on the clay courts, swaggering into the third round.
Here are the results from Wednesday at Roland Garros and a recap of some of the standout moments from another dramatic day in Paris.

However, Bourgue found his feet in front of his home crowd, putting his illustrious opponent under big pressure, forcing mistakes and taking the next two sets with ease.
