Tomlin, Salazar lead underrated rotation

CHICAGO — White Sox starters Chris Sale and Jose Quintana are the American League Central pitchers grabbing headlines and popping up on leaderboards, but don’t sleep on the Indians and their talented rotation.
The Tribe entered Wednesday with the fifth-best starting pitcher ERA at 4.02. The White Sox — in fourth at 3.67 — are the only Central team ahead of Cleveland.
The Indians have had solid starting pitching, but it has come in a somewhat unexpected manner. And the best could be yet to come.
With Carlos Carrasco on the disabled list and Corey Kluber not quite his dominant self, Danny Salazar and Josh Tomlin have further proved their reliability in a rotation known for its collection of self-made arms.
Salazar has started 4-3 with a 2.32 ERA, which ranks sixth among qualifying AL starters.
