Muguruza, Halep, Kvitova hold form at French

PARIS — The top seeds in action Wednesday dodged the upset bug that lurked around the clay courts of Roland Garros a day earlier, as Garbine Muguruza, Simona Halep and Petra Kvitova all reached the third round of the French Open.
No. 3 Angelique Kerber and No. 5 Victoria Azarenka both suffered first-round upset losses on Tuesday.
The fourth-seeded Muguruza, the 2015 finalist at Wimbledon, beat wild-card entry Myrtille Georges 6-2, 6-0.
