Tyler Bray opens offseason practice as the Chiefs’ No. 2 quarterback

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The quarterback one snap away from being a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs went undrafted when he entered the NFL three years ago and has rarely practiced in the past two seasons.
But Tyler Bray opened offseason practice on Tuesday as the primary backup to starter Alex Smith, ahead of two drafted quarterbacks, Aaron Murray and rookie Kevin Hogan.
Plenty of time remains before the Chiefs have to have a final decision and coach Andy Reid said he might go through training camp and the preseason before making it.
“It’s as wide open a competition as you can have there,” he said.
Still, Bray took most of the backup snaps on Tuesday and Reid wouldn’t commit to changing that any time soon.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Reid said. “It’s early yet.
