Chinese swimmers have been working at a training centre at Belek, Turkey, for several seasons but a group on camp there of late, including several national-team members, is reported to have been working with doping rogue Zhou Ming.

Pictures posted on Instagram by Dirk Lange, the former head coach of Germany at the helm of the Austria team in London at the European Championships last week and who bases his international program at the Gloria Sports Centre in Turkey, confirm that a large China contingent is on camp there.

more than 40 positive doping tests among under-age athletes, many of them direct pupils of his the arrest of Yuan Yuan at Sydney airport when 13 vials of human growth hormone were found in her kit bag, the volume of what is a banned (and expensive) substance in sport enough to have supplied the entire China team for the duration of their stay at the World Championships in Perth in early 1998.

At a press conference in Perth 1998, with FINA and Chinese Swimming Association officials present, it was announced that Zhou Ming had been banned for life in the wake of the latest doping scandal involving Yuan and the positive diuretic tests of four of her teammates in out-of-competition tests in the days leading up to racing at Perth world titles.
