Flying under the radar: Syndicate MMA’s John Wood is one of the sport’s best kept secrets

MMA is a fiercely competitive sport where its athletes stay in a state of perpetual motion to maintain an edge on prospective opponents. If fighters aren’t willing to put in hard work and evolve their skillset, they can expect their career expiration date to be fast-tracked at the hands of a hungrier fighter who’s more willing to adapt.
One of the biggest factors to consider is selecting a fight camp to call home, and with the rapid growth of the sport, there is a plethora of gyms to choose from. A well-established team with good coaches and plenty of training partners is ideal. Names like Jackson-Wink, ATT, AKA and Alliance MMA spring to mind.
Las Vegas-based team, Syndicate MMA has been around for years under various incarnations, and for the most part, it’s flying under the radar. Syndicate, headed up by longtime coach, John Wood, has some of the best trainers on staff and a great roster of talent actively pursuing their career goals. Tom Lawlor, Vinny Magalhaes, Mike Pyle and Roxanne Modafferi are just a handful of the athletes that can be found training or instructing at the well-appointed facility.
