ROLAND GARROS WOMEN’S SINGLES- Angelique Kerber and Vika Azarenka stunned in the first round

Tennis- Third seed, this year’s Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber was knocked out in the first round of the 2016 French Open Women’s Singles event by Netherlands’ Kiki Bertens in 3 sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Earlier in the day World No.1 Serena Williams and former World No.1 Venus Williams also won their matches.
Bertens had won the title in Nurnberg last week , so she was in top form and people were expecting her to give tough time to Kerber. The Dutch player had taken the first set against Kerber in their previous meeting in Miami this year, but had to retire in the third set. Once again Bertens dominated in the first set and broke Kerber twice to take the first set 6-2. In the second set German fought back and took second the set 6-3 to level the match.
