Sources: Bengals’ Eifert to have ankle surgery

CINCINNATI — Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert could miss the season opener at the New York Jets on Sept. 11 because of a pending ankle surgery, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
The news was first reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer, which said the surgery is expected to have a three-month recovery.
Eifert hurt his left ankle late in the Pro Bowl back in February, and was forced immediately into a boot after the game.
