Tommy John surgery for Red Sox reliever Smith

Red Sox right-hander Carson Smith is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday in New York.
The surgery, to be performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery, will repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in Smith’s right elbow.
