It was after a two-hour delay that matches commenced on day two of the French Open on Monday.
Dusan Lajovic became the first men’s player on day two to advance to the second round. Lajovic defeated Denis Kudla in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. The Serbian hit 28 winners to the American’s 21 and had 22 unforced errors to his opponent’s 23. Next up for Lajovic is Viktor Troicki. 22nd seed Viktor Troicki defeated Grigor Dimitrov in five sets. The Bulgarian was leading by two-sets-to-one before the Serbian scripted the turnaround in the match. It was a disappointing run in the French Open for the Bulgarian yet again and it marked a constancy of his recent patchy run this season. Another Frenchman, Jeremy Chardy also notched a four-set win to move ahead in the men’s draw. Chardy defeated Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Chardy had 121 points for the match to Mayer’s 111. He also hit 36 winners and 35 unforced errors to Mayer’s total of 39 winners and 30 unforced errors. Chardy awaits Adam Pavlasek in the second round. The lucky loser Adam Pavlasek defeated the resilient Spanish qualifier Roberto Carballes Baena in five sets. The Spaniard won the second and the fourth sets, but was routed in the fifth set that Pavlasek won comfortably with a 6-1 margin.Dustin Brown wrapped up a five-set win over Dudi Sela to advance to the Round of 64 too. The tightly contested match featured two tie-break sets that each player one apiece. The Israeli won the first set – a tie-breaker set – but dropped the next two sets, the third set also being a tie-breaker. He won the fourth set, but it was …
