Stokes ruled out, Woakes called up

Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka, on his home ground at Chester-le-Street, with Warwickshire allrounder Chris Woakes added to the 12-man squad as his replacement. It is the only change England have made following their crushing innings-and-88-run victory at Headingley.
Stokes injured his left knee on the second day at Headingley and, having bowled through the pain in Sri Lanka’s first innings, spent the majority of the second innings off the field having treatment. He underwent a scan yesterday and the results have shown he will have to sit out at least this next Test – further evaluation will take place with specialists on Tuesday.
