Flores hits first MLB homer while pacing offense

NEW YORK — Ramon Flores entered play Saturday with a .190 batting average on the season, including a .170 mark against right-handed pitching.

Batting in the No. 8 hole, the outfielder proved to be a pivotal part of the Brewers’ offense as he drove in a career-high three runs in Milwaukee’s 5-4 loss to the Mets at Citi Field on Saturday.

Flores began his day by sending a 93-mph four-seam fastball from Mets starter Jacob deGrom over the wall in right field for his first Major League home run, a two-run shot that gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead in the second inning.
