2016 NCAA Division II Men’s Championship: Top-seeded Lions to play in their first NCAA final, beating Pirates 5-2

Regency Athletic Complex in Denver hosted the blockbuster semi-final clash in 2016 NCAA Division II Men’s Championship, as the first seeds Saint Leo Lions logged a 5-2 win over second-ranked Armstrong State Pirates, reaching their first NCAA final. In the title match, the Lions will face the 3rd seeds, Hawaii Pacific, whoa re the only team that managed to defeat Saint Leo this season (27-1). The Pirates were stopped in the semi-fina by the top-ranked school for the third straight year, losing to Hawaii Pacific in 2015 and West Florida in 2014. Armstrong had a perfect start in doubles, as Pablo Gor/Ignacio Hernandez scored a dismantling 8-1 victory against Jaime Bueno/Egor Panyushkin on court 2. Nevertheless, the LIons were ready to battle on the remaining courts, scoring 2 wins by 8-6 to grab the lead.
