2016 NCAA Division II Men’s Championship: Sharks advances to their 3rd straight final after besting Bulldogs 5-0

Hawaii Pacific Sharks will play in their 3rd straight NCAA Division II Men’s Championship after beating 35th-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs 5-0 at Gates Tennis Center in Denver. They were runner-up in the last two NCAA final battles and will for sure try to retrieve that against Saint Leo. Ferris State Bulldogs finished their season on a 25-5 score (most wins in school’s history), reaching their first NCAA semi-final. They were also only the third team from Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to make the last 4 at nationals but had no chance in competition against the first 3 ranked schools. Still, this was their best NCAA tournament since 1988 and can give them some nice momentum before the start of the next season. Sharks, standing at 20-3 so far this spring, didn’t miss a chance to advance to another final against lower-ranked opponents, scoring 3 doubles wins to finish the job with two additional singles triumphs.
