Red Sox lose another weak turn from Clay Buchholz

BOSTON — Clay Buchholz heard some familiar groans during portions of his start Friday night against the Cleveland Indians. And there will likely be the familiar search for positives from the Boston Red Sox right-hander and those around him after his latest underwhelming performance in a 4-2 loss. The night was a little like others this season for the veteran, whose ERA sits at 5.92 through nine starts.
However, a glass half-full approach might be more appropriate after this one. It’s not as if the Red Sox have a bevy of options if they wished to replace their struggling right-hander. In addition, there were a few silver linings (maybe pewter) in Buchholz’s effort, which featured one bad inning and — for the fourth straight time — a very solid finish.
