Yanks might hold A-Rod’s return to next week

OAKLAND — The Yankees saw progress again on Friday as Alex Rodriguez tested his strained right hamstring on the bases at the Oakland Coliseum, and while he is eligible to be activated from the disabled list, manager Joe Girardi suggested that the team may wait until next week after they return home.
Initially, the Yankees had been aiming to activate Rodriguez on Saturday, but Rodriguez’s reaction to that has seemed lukewarm. As such, the Yankees could take advantage of Monday’s off-day and have the 40-year-old designated hitter active for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.
