Spieth in contention at Byron Nelson after 65

IRVING, Texas — Jordan Spieth’s name was atop the leaderboard for a long period Friday during the second round of the AT&T Byron Nelson — the first time he’s led an event since the Masters, two starts ago.
Spieth is one shot behind Ben Crane, who started in the afternoon and was at 12-under par through 15 holes Friday, after firing a 65 in his second round.

With a strong effort through two rounds of the AT&T Byron Nelson, Jordan Spieth is showing that his Masters meltdown was only a temporary setback and he’s able to contend without his A game.
“The Masters felt like it was quite a while ago,” he said. “That’s why I’m getting the questions, ‘Was it nice to have your name back on top?’ Well, I mean, two tournaments ago. It does feel like a while, though.”
Here at the hometown event he started attending as a toddler, he’s hoping this tournament ends differently than last month’s Masters did.
