Red Sox place Smith (15-day), Holt (7-day) on DL

BOSTON — The Red Sox made a series of roster moves prior to Friday night’s home game against the Indians that included righty reliever Carson Smith (elbow soreness) being placed on the 15-day disabled list and left fielder/catcher Blake Swihart getting recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.
In addition, outfielder/infielder Brock Holt was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list, which necessitated the return of Swihart, who has spent the past several weeks learning how to play left field.
