Hard to work out why they call it the Japan Open when visitors cannot progress beyond heats but after 1:47.03 from Cameron McEvoy and 1:47.38 from Dan Smith the 200m freestyle wss closed to the Australians, leaving Kosuke Hagino and Naito Ehara to battle alone to 1:46.43 and 1:46.96 finished in the final.
