Good news for Manchester United fans – the last time a Louis van Gaal side finished outside of the top four they went on to win the league the next season.
The Dutchman has been under mounting pressure this season and a fifth-place finish in the Premier League has only served to increase speculation he could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, regardless of Saturday’s FA Cup final result.
With no Champions League football to look forward to next year, some fans booed Van Gaal at the end of Tuesday’s 3-1 home win over Bournemouth.
However, there is a positive omen from Van Gaal’s past.
