New ballpark reportedly has momentum

ARLINGTON — Industry sources have confirmed published reports the city of Arlington has scheduled a news conference on Friday for an “important economic development” that could involve a new ballpark for the Rangers.
The facility would have a retractable roof, and the ballpark would cost $900 million and be split equally between the city and the club, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Voters would have to approve any tax dollars used to pay for the facility.
The city and the club have not confirmed the deal. Rangers officials declined comment.
