Marlins option prospect Garcia to Double-A

MIAMI — The Marlins on Thursday optioned reliever Jarlin Garcia, ranked by MLBPipeline.com as the organization’s No. 3 prospect, to Double-A Jacksonville. The left-hander was promoted to the big leagues on Sunday, but he heads back to the Minors without appearing in a Major League game.
No corresponding move was announced by the club, but during Miami’s recently completed series at Philadelphia, manager Don Mattingly said right-hander Edwin Jackson was close to being reinstated from the disabled list. Jackson, 32, has been on the DL since April 19 with a …
