SEC coaching staffs finally seem set

Hold your breath, but it looks as if we’ve finally reached the end of the coaching comings and goings in the SEC.

With Karl Dunbar officially on at Alabama and Matt House at Kentucky, we may have seen the last of the personnel moves.

So now feels like a good time to look back at all the new hires since the end of last season, starting with the teams with the fewest changes:

Ole Miss

New faces: N/A

The Skinny: The word “stability” doesn’t come to mind when you talk about the Rebs these days, but the staff has remained completely intact, giving Hugh Freeze a consistency few head coaches ever enjoy.

Florida

New faces: Torrian Gray (secondary)

The Skinny: Coordinators Doug Nussmeier and Geoff Collins were candidates for head-coaching jobs, but ultimately remained at Florida where Jim McElwain’s staff in Year 2 is plenty familiar.

Tennessee

New faces: Bob Shoop (defensive coordinator), Larry Scott (tight ends)

The Skinny: Butch Jones wasn’t compelled to make a move on defense, but he didn’t feel like he could pass on bringing in Shoop, who has a solid reputation as a defensive tactician.

Arkansas

New faces: Kurt Anderson (offensive line), Reggie Mitchell (running backs), Paul Rhoads (secondary)

The Skinny: Bret Bielema built his program on winning the line of scrimmage and running the football, and now he’ll have two new assistants leading those areas of the team.

Texas A&M

New faces: Noel Mazzone (offensive coordinator), Jim Turner (offensive line), David Turner (defensive tackles)

The Skinny: The writing was on the wall that Jake Spavital was on his way out, and Kevin Sumlin found a fine replacement in Mazzone, who spent the past six seasons at UCLA and Arizona State.

Alabama

New faces: Jeremy Pruitt (defensive coordinator), Karl Dunbar (defensive line), Derrick Ansley …
