Bradley keeping it simple in scorching streak

KANSAS CITY — One of the hottest stories at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night was prospect Whit Merrifield making his debut for the Royals. But the hottest hitter on the grounds was another alum from the University of South Carolina.

In fact, Bradley is the hottest hitter in the game at the moment. The center fielder drilled a solo shot to left-center in his first at-bat in Game 2 of Wednesday’s day-night doubleheader, leading the Red Sox to a 5-2 win over the Royals.

Bradley’s homer stretched his hitting streak to 24 games, the longest in the Major Leagues this season. He later added a single to raise his average to .338.

Though all of the Red Sox players were ready for Thursday’s off-day, it’s likely Bradley will be the most relaxed.
