Padres offer Blash, but Mariners opt for player or cash

BALTIMORE — The Mariners declined the return of outfielder Jabari Blash from the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, instead agreeing to acquire a player to be named or cash considerations.
Blash was acquired by the Padres on Dec. 10, 2015, shortly after the A’s selected him off the Mariners’ Triple-A Tacoma roster in the Major League portion of the Rule 5 Draft.
