Three things we learned Tuesday

It was a night of aces — Noah Syndergaard outdueled Max Scherzer, Madison Bumgarner tossed a complete game, Clayton Kershaw was dominant, Danny Salazar lowered his ERA to 1.80 and Michael Pineda … well, Michael Pineda is not an ace. Three things we learned:
1. Shawn Tolleson should be out as Texas Rangers closer. After the Rangers rallied to take the lead against the A’s on Ian Desmond’s home run in the top of the ninth, Tolleson gave it back on Khris Davis’ walk-off grand slam, Davis’ third home run of the game and eighth of May. While Tolleson is tied for the AL lead with 11 saves, it was his fourth blown save and he’s allowed 15 runs in 14⅔ innings, including an astonishing five home runs already. As Dave Cameron of FanGraphs pointed out, he’s allowed more home runs than Kershaw has allowed walks. Manager Jeff Banister was noncommittal after the game on Tolleson’s role — “I definitely have a level of concern. That’s one I’m not ready tonight to make a decision on.” — but I’d be shocked if Sam Dyson doesn’t start getting the save opportunities. Matt Bush could claim a key setup …
