Cruiserweight contender Murat Gassiev accomplished two big things Tuesday night: He authored the possible knockout of the year and earned a world title shot.
Gassiev scored a devastating first-round knockout of Jordan Shimmell in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions card at the Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minnesota. In doing so, Gassiev became a mandatory challenger for the winner of the world title unification fight between Argentina’s Victor Emilio Ramirez and Russia’s Denis Lebedev, who will square off Saturday at the Khodynka Ice Palace in Moscow.
