Moustakas headed to rehab assignment

KANSAS CITY — Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas is expected to join Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday to begin a short rehab stint as he recovers from a broken bone in the palm of his left hand.
The Royals chose Northwest Arkansas for the assignment because they are at home and thus closer. Triple-A Omaha is playing in Reno, Nev.
If all goes well, Moustakas is expected to rejoin the Royals while the team is in Chicago on Saturday.
