A few notes from around the boxing world:
Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez’s massive one-punch knockout of Amir Khan in the sixth round on May 7 in Las Vegas got a tremendous amount of publicity and those who had read or heard about it perhaps were anxious to see it if they had not bought the HBO PPV card. HBO’s replay of the fight on Saturday night averaged 767,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. However, the replay spiked dramatically to a peak of 1.005 million — a much higher than normal 31 percent increase from the average — during the fifth round, just before the booming knockout.
