W4x100m Freestyle: Dutch Gold In Dominant 3:33.80 For First Win Since Eindhoven 2008

The Dutch quartet of Maud van der Meer (54.68), Femke Heemskerk (52.80); Marrit Steenbergen (53.82) and Olympic 50 and 100m champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo (52.50) claimed 4x100m free gold in a dominant 3:33.80 ahead of quartets from Italy and Sweden.
Missing from the Dutch quartet was Inge Dekker, who is recovering from surgery for cervical cancer and is hoping to be fit in time for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
After gold for The Netherlands, their first win since victory at home in Eindhoven in 2008, came Italians Silvia Di Pietro, Erika Ferraioli, Aglaia Pezzato and Federica Pellegrini (53.46) in 3:37.68, the bornze to Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (53.48), Ida Varga-Marko, Ida Lindborg and Louise Hansson in 3:37.84.
