Jets’ Gailey not fretting over Fitzpatrick talks

NORTH CALDWELL, N.J. — Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, whose reunion with Ryan Fitzpatrick helped the New York Jets to their best offensive season in more than a decade, claimed Monday he’s not fretting the outcome of the quarterback’s highly-publicized contract stalemate with the organization.

“I can’t worry about that stuff,” said Gailey, speaking to reporters for the first time since the end of the season. “I coach whoever walks in the door. That’s what you have to do. We all know what he did for us last year. We all know what we think he can do this year.

“[The impasse] is the business side,” he continued. “I’m worried about the football side.”

Fitzpatrick’s contract situation has become the theme of the offseason. Players such as Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker have lobbied for Fitzpatrick’s return, but the two sides remain far apart on a new contract.
