Sonnen on early Cyborg stoppage at UFC 198: ‘This was terrible’

It’s no secret, fighters don’t like to see fights get stopped early. In fact, if you’ve heard more than a few of them talk about it, most would much rather see a fight get stopped too late rather than have the ref jump the gun. Under that lens, maybe it’s not so surprising that former UFC title contender and current ESPN talking head Chael Sonnen had some less than charitable thoughts for the referee who stepped in (by most accounts) too early in Cris Cyborg’s TKO win over Leslie Smith last weekend at UFC 198.
