HR, triple by DiMaggio help Yanks edge White Sox

NEW YORK, May 16, 1941 — The Yankees got help from a familiar and not-so-familiar face on Friday afternoon, and they hope that the 6 to 5 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the bottom of the ninth inning turns into something more than a little spark.
The familiar face, Joe DiMaggio, did his part early and late. He clouted a monstrous home run into the left-field bleachers in the third inning, then restored the hopes of the Yankee Stadium crowd of 5,616 fans in the ninth with his struggling club down by a run.
