Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake runs 19.95 200m

Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake completed a 100m, 200m and 4x100m triple at the SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Saturday (May 14), clocking 19.95 for the half-lap event to become only the third Briton to run the distance in under 20 seconds.
After clocking a 20.31 (+1.3) PB in his 200m heat, Mitchell-Blake improved to 19.95 (+0.4) in the final. That mark misses John Regis’ official British record by just 0.01 and puts Mitchell-Blake second ahead of Britain’s only other sub-20 second 200m runner, Adam Gemili, on the all-time list. Regis also ran 19.87 for 200m in 1994 – the year after he clocked his 19.94 – but that mark was never ratified.
